Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

To provide the Service, JusticeOS (a product of Empathy Labs LLC) collects:

• Free Clerk Check: the files you submit are processed transiently to run the check and are not saved by JusticeOS. The itemized report opens in your browser without an email address. If you choose to save a report, a text copy is downloaded to your device; JusticeOS does not save that report to your account or email it. If you are signed in and explicitly choose to keep specific readings from your pages (for example the name printed in the caption), those individual values (never the files) are saved to your own case, and only the ones you tick.
• Account workspace: your account email address, the case facts you enter during intake, documents you add to your case, and documents JusticeOS generates for you.
• Eviction check: if you use the City of Los Angeles eviction check, we store the answers you confirm, the short descriptions you type of what happened, the result, the steps you mark done, and any feedback or corrections you send, in your account or guest session. The answers have no street address or landlord name. If you check an address, our server sends it to the U.S. Census Bureau's public address lookup to find which city it is in; we do not store the address. A photo or PDF of a notice is read by the same AI service that reads other uploads, and JusticeOS does not keep the file. If you tick the box on a correction, a copy with dates shifted and your typed text, income, rent and safety answer removed may become a test case for the check.
• Payments: if you buy the packet, we keep a record that you paid, the amount, and the payment's reference number. Your card details and PayPal login stay with Stripe or PayPal.

2. Companies that handle your data

We use a few service companies to run JusticeOS. Each one gets only what it needs to do its job:

• Vercel hosts this website and runs our server code, so the pages you open and the answers you type pass through Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel sees your IP address and keeps request logs. We also use Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits and a few steps, like starting a case. It uses no cookies, and we never send it your case facts, your case number, or anything you type. On public landing pages, Vercel Speed Insights also measures loading speed, layout stability, and responsiveness. We remove query strings and fragments from Web Analytics and Speed Insights data, except that Web Analytics keeps a campaign label on a link we published ourselves, such as which post a visit came from; any other value is removed. Private case pages do not send Speed Insights data.
• Supabase is our database. It stores your account (your email address and sign-in), guest sessions, the case facts you enter, the documents you add to your case, and the forms JusticeOS makes for you. In the app, only your account or guest session can open them.
• Microsoft Clarity is optional analytics on our public campaign pages, whose addresses start with /lp/. When enabled and only after you accept, it uses cookies, masked session recordings, and heatmaps to help us understand clicks, scrolling, and page interactions. Microsoft receives technical browser and device information and these interactions. We send only a campaign creative label and a small set of fixed interaction labels; we do not send account or case identifiers, names, typed answers, or uploaded documents. The page is masked by default; only the fixed public headline, description, scope, and illustrative portrait are unmasked. Query strings and fragments are removed before Clarity loads. We do not enable advertising consent or add advertising or remarketing pixels. See Microsoft's privacy statement.
• Anthropic runs the main AI model (Claude, through the Anthropic API) that reads the documents and screenshots you upload, runs the free Clerk Check, and powers the guided intake chat. Anthropic says that by default it does not use inputs or outputs from its commercial API to train its models; we do not opt in for your case data. See Anthropic's data-use policy for its API. If the main model is down, the request is tried once more on a backup model that runs on Cloudflare Workers AI. Our gateway there has prompt and response logging and response caching turned off, and Cloudflare says it does not use customer content to train models without explicit consent, which we do not give. • Stripe handles card payments. You type your card details on Stripe's own checkout page, so JusticeOS never sees your card number. Stripe gets your email address and reference numbers for your account and case. It does not get your case facts.
• PayPal handles payments if you choose to pay with PayPal. You log in and pay in PayPal's own window. PayPal gets the price, reference numbers for your account and case, and the item name "JusticeOS DV restraining-order packet." It does not get your case facts.
• U.S. Census Bureau runs the public address lookup the eviction check uses. When you check an address, our server sends the address you typed, and nothing else about you, to find which city or county it is in.
• Resend delivers the sign-in codes we email you. It gets your email address and the email itself, which holds the code. It does not get your case facts.

Free Clerk Check uploads follow the separate short-lived flow described above: they are read to run the check and are not saved by JusticeOS.

Clarity never loads on sign-in, intake, Clerk Check, upload, account, or private case pages. On campaign pages, both Clarity and Vercel Web Analytics wait for your explicit acceptance. Declining leaves them off, and a Global Privacy Control signal is treated as a decline. Use Privacy choices on a campaign page to withdraw at any time; we remove Clarity's first-party cookies where the browser allows and reload that campaign page to stop recording. Withdrawal stops future recording; it does not erase recordings already collected. Your versioned choice is remembered for up to 180 days when browser storage is available. If storage is blocked, your choice can apply just to the current page visit.

3. How we use your data

We use the case facts and documents you provide for one purpose only: to render the court forms and guidance for your own case. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your case data, or any documents you upload, to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. We measure preparation durations and model usage counts to evaluate performance and costs. Those measurements do not include the content of what you type or upload. We keep numeric usage and budget counters, not document content, for cost control.

We also keep first-party case milestones, such as opening a confirmed preview, creating checkout, and serving an authorized form. These records contain event labels and timestamps, not the text of your case. Campaign labels are attached only through optional consented attribution. A file response does not tell us whether you saved or filed the document.

4. How long we keep it

We currently retain account and case-workspace data while your account remains active. We do not promise a fixed automatic-deletion schedule. You may request deletion at any time by contacting support; we will confirm the scope of your request and its completion. In the eviction check, "Start over" erases your saved answers, the result and everything recorded with them, at any time.

5. A note on your safety

If you are using JusticeOS in a domestic violence situation, we strongly recommend signing up with an email account the other party cannot access, and signing out of shared or monitored devices after each session. JusticeOS cannot control the security of a device or email account the other party can read. A payment can also show up on a card statement, bank statement, or PayPal history that the other party can see. Read what Quick exit does and does not do, and safer ways to use this site.

6. Your rights (California residents)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, gives you the right to know what personal information we collect about you, request deletion of your personal information, correct inaccurate personal information, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, which we do not do; we do not sell or share your personal information. 7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy here with a new "Last updated" date.
