Clerk Check™ by JusticeOS
Upload DV-100, DV-109, DV-110 and CLETS-001 and Clerk Check runs seven mechanical checks: current form versions, blank required items, missing signatures, missing forms, missing attachments, mismatched names or case numbers, and the county. Each finding names the form item or rule. It does not judge what you wrote or predict the judge's decision.
What Clerk Check checks
- Form version: the revision date printed in each form footer, compared against the current Judicial Council revision (form footer; Cal. Rules of Court, rule 1.31; courts.ca.gov/forms).
- Required information: each core item the form asks for, checked for a blank, cited to the form item and page.
- Signatures: every signature line the filer completes, checked for a signature, cited to the form item and page.
- Missing forms: whether DV-100, DV-109, and CLETS-001 are present, with DV-110 reported separately (DV-500-INFO; Cal. Rules of Court, rule 1.51).
- Attachments: where a custody request on DV-100 is marked, whether the referenced attachment is in the packet (DV-100 custody item; DV-105; DV-140).
- Caption consistency: repeated party names and the case number across pages, compared for disagreement (Cal. Rules of Court, rule 2.111).
- Court location: whether the county named on the packet is one of California’s 58 counties, and whether the caption agrees with it (courts.ca.gov/find-my-court).
What it does not check
- Handwriting legibility was not judged; clerks can decline pages they cannot read (Cal. Rules of Court, rules 2.100–2.119).
- What is written inside the description items was not evaluated; whether described events support an order is decided by the judicial officer (Fam. Code § 6300).
- Only the county was checked; which courthouse branch takes DVRO filings, and its window hours, vary by court (local court rules).
- Fee-waiver requests on FW-001 are decided by the court and were not checked. There is no filing fee for the DVRO forms themselves (Gov. Code § 68631; Fam. Code § 6222).
- Serving the papers happens after filing and was not checked; courts require proof of service before the hearing (DV-200; DV-500-INFO).
- The number of copies a court wants at the filing window varies and was not checked (local court rules).
