What the California DVRO packet includes
JusticeOS prepares the statewide Judicial Council forms most people file to start a domestic violence restraining order case in California. You answer plain questions on your phone or computer, review every field, then print the PDFs and file them with the superior court in your county yourself.
The core packet is DV-100, DV-109, DV-110, CLETS-001. Los Angeles County cases also include the local family law cover sheet FAM-020 when the court requires it. Optional forms such as DV-105 for child custody requests are not filled in by JusticeOS; use the official California Courts PDFs for those.
California Courts lists DV-100 as the request that describes the abuse and the orders you want. CLETS-001 collects confidential identifying information for law enforcement and is not served on the person to be restrained. DV-109 is the notice of court hearing; you fill names and the court address while the clerk adds the hearing date. DV-110 is the proposed temporary restraining order; you complete the items the form assigns to you and a judicial officer decides which orders to grant.
How preparing the forms works
You start on the interview, which walks through relationship, safety, and the orders you are asking for. Nothing is sent to the court from JusticeOS. You read the filled forms, fix anything that is wrong, and sign where the form requires your signature.
Page 1 of the packet preview is free before you pay. A self-attested fee waiver unlocks the same printable PDFs at no cost when you qualify. After payment or waiver, you can run the free Clerk Check for common completeness problems such as missing signatures, outdated form revisions, and forms missing from the assembled packet.
Fam. Code § 6222 prohibits a court filing fee for the initial request for a domestic violence restraining order. JusticeOS charges a separate one-time preparation fee per case, shown on this page, or nothing with a fee waiver.
After you print the packet
File the signed forms with the superior court in your county, in person, by e-filing, by email, or the way that court’s website describes. Our county guides list courthouse addresses, self-help centers, and online filing options with links to official court sources.
After the judge signs, someone 18 or older who is not you must serve the restrained person with copies of the papers and file proof of service. California Courts states the sheriff can serve restraining order papers for free. The hearing date on the returned DV-109 controls your service deadline and your court date.
JusticeOS is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. It explains court forms and procedure in plain language and cites official sources. For help deciding which orders to request, use your court’s self-help center.
